Covid-19 Guidelines

For 2020 - 2021 (as of August 13, 2020)

General Information

  • Class times are staggered to allow ample time for arrivals/departures.

  • Dancers will enter the studios one at a time, where their temperatures will be checked.

  • The building is equipped with several hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility.

  • Dancers must wear masks when entering and exiting the building, staying socially distant.

  • The studio will be sanitized between every class per the CDC guidelines.

Dancer Health

  • Dancers who are ill must remain home.

  • Dancers who have been exposed to COVID-19 must remain home.

  • Dancers who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 (including but not limited to cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, unusual headache, unexplained muscle and/or joint pain, chills, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of sense of smell, pink eye, general signs of feeling unwell or increased fatigue) will not be permitted to take class.

On the first day of each class level, we will go through our new health and safety protocols with all students and clearly define physical boundaries, perimeter markings and procedures for transitioning from barre to centre, cleaning protocol, transitions between classes and studio departure.  We will not proceed with class until all students are clear on these procedures.

During Class

All ballet barres have been placed around the perimeter of the studio and there will be only one dancer per barre.  There is a minimum of 12 feet between barres.  We have also marked off 6 feet increments around the perimeter and dancers will utilize these marks when waiting their turns for centre or across the floor combinations.  Social distancing will be enforced at all times.  We have also blocked off a “teacher’s only area.”

Class Combinations and Choreography

We have taken into account the need for physical distancing and will not present choreography that involves partnering or extensive floor work.  We will also closely monitor the pathways students travel when they move across the floor.  Additionally, faculty members will avoid hands-on corrections and verbal cues will be used at all times.

Bathroom Breaks and Cleaning Between Classes

Apart from bathroom breaks, dancers will remain at their station for the duration of class.  We have also scheduled cleaning breaks between classes.
