Company Etudes Youth Ensemble Ballet
Company Etudes Youth Ensemble Ballet is the area's only pre-professional company comprised entirely of youth members of our community. Dancers in the company have the opportunity to perform in two full scale ballet productions per year providing them the chance to work as both ensemble members and soloists, something unique only to to CEYEB in our area. Additionally, dancers in the company perform alongside guest artists from local arts organizations and those from outside companies brought in for pas de deux and partnering work.
We are the youth of Tallahassee and the youth are the stars of our company!
Auditions are held in the fall and spring of each year for those dancers wishing to participate in an accelerated training program and those wishing to expand their performance opportunities through participation in the company. We encourage and support our upper division dancers in their quest for additional summer study and many audition for and are accepted to the country’s most prestigious summer intensive programs including those at The American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Austin, Orlando Ballet, Florida Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, The Patel Conservatory/Next Generation Ballet, The American Academy of Ballet and Northwest Florida Ballet to name a few. Dancers are further exposed to annual master classes with professional instructors such as the world renowned Suzanne Farrell, Juan Sanchez, Tatiana Tchernova, Amanda McKerrow, Duncan Cooper, the FSU School of Dance faculty and more. Upper division students are offered the opportunity to participate in regional ballet festivals and prestigious international ballet competitions. Our alumni have gone on to train and perform with the Académie Américaine de Danse de Paris, Chattanooga Ballet, Emory University, Florida State University School of Dance, as well as pursuing careers in fields such as medicine and law. Many of these students credit their time at the Conservatory as teaching them the necessary life skills needed to be successful in their career field of choice, dance related or otherwise. Those students whose paths lead to non-dance careers gain immeasurably from having studied at the Conservatory. They develop self-motivation, self-discipline, poise, grace, physical adroitness and an appreciation for the arts, which they will carry with them throughout their lives. Our mission is to train, inspire and nurture young dancers towards personal and artistic excellence and bring the art of classical dance to Tallahassee and the surrounding areas.
Dancers interested in CEYEB should contact the office to schedule an audition. Prospective dancers are strongly encouraged to attend our summer intensive or summer workshop for placement purposes.
The CEYEB scholarship fund , sustained through donations from various fundraising events including our Annual Spring Silent Auction, provides opportunities to deserving pre-professional division students to further their study by attending world renowned summer intensives, ballet festivals, master classes, international ballet competitions in addition to annual tuition assistance. The past two seasons have awareded students scholarships to The American Ballet Theatre, Next Generation Ballet/Patel Conservatory, BalletFest Atlanta and the ADC International Ballet Competition.
