Scholarships

The Mary Kathryn Smith Young Dancer Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Mrs. Smith's passion for philanthropy, community, the arts and the future for our youth. The scholarship fund exists to give exceptional dance students the opportunity to cultivate their talent through pre-professional ballet training, performance opportunities, including regional festivals and summer intensive studies, and furthermore, to promote the importance of arts education in our community. Mrs. Smith’s conviction was “ballet changes lives,” and it is our wish to honor her legacy and the next generation of young artists she cherished, supported and believed in.

The MKSYD scholarship fund, sustained through donations from various fundraising events including our Annual Spring Silent Auction, provides opportunities to deserving pre-professional division students to further their study by attending world renowned summer intensives, ballet festivals, master classes, international ballet competitions in addition to annual tuition assistance.  The past seasons have awarded students scholarships to The American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Next Generation Ballet/Patel Conservatory and BalletFest Atlanta.
